I've been having a play with some new stuff tonight. There was a little papercraft fair in Sheffield on Sunday and I managed to catch the last hour of it. I got some essentials (like more cardstock) but a few interesting bits too. One of which was one of the new marianne d "rolled rose" dies. I managed the rolling really easily, but the ones I'd seen done all had pearl centers so I assumed they were "bradded" together and I couldn't do it. I noticed however that one of my blogging mates Lynne had done a card with the same roses today so I asked her for some tips and she obliged with this fabby tutorial - thanks Lynne :-)
So I managed to get my roses to stick together and I decided not to add centres. The papers are some old handmade papers I had in my stash so IRL the roses are really mottled. I cute the leaves from the same die set in black, and used a blue metalic rub on to bring the out the veins. I decided to make it into a final entry for this weeks LIM challenge and found this black congratulations ribbon in my stash and thought that would set off the roses OK. I think it would have been better on a plain white rather than the pearl cream card though, but hindsight is a lovely thing lol! Roll on Saturday for the new challenge.....

You did a fabulous job with the blooms!! Lovely card!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are superb. I've just ordered myself the die with the smooth edges, I hope I'll manage to do them properly.
ReplyDeleteLovely card, but I tend to agree about the cardstock... on the whole I'm not a great lover of pearlised card as a card base.
Thanks for joining us once more Tara.
