Simply Less is More Week 6 - "Off The Edge"

It's my favourite challenge again today :-)  I found myself torn this morning as I was going out with a friend shopping for the day for her birthday, and while I've been looking forward to the day out, I checked out the blog before setting off and instantly wanted to play along...  It's been weird not spending my Saturday crafting for the first time in 5 weeks.

So, as soon as I got home and we'd eaten, it was straight upstairs to play.  However, this weeks challenge is a honker!  Normally, I look at the challenge title and know instantly what stamp to use and what I'm going to do - NOT this week - I don't think I've ever done a card with the stamp going off the edge before.  It took a lot of thought, and 3 cards went in the bin (including a very wonky orange number that should never be discussed in public....)

I finally ended up with a flourish border stamp, which I stamped just over the edge to the right, and the top and bottom of the stamp fall off their edges too.  This is a clear rubber stamp set and I think it was a Basic Grey one but there is no branding on it and I've had it a while so can't remember for sure.  The little flourish by the sentiment is also from the same set.  The sentiment is from my ever trusted Elzybels sets.  All stamped in momento tuxedo black.  I was toying with embossing as I thought the shiny contrast down the side would be lovely, but I think the detail in the stamp is too fine to emboss.  I really should try using some colour in these challenges as I often seem to go to B&W - so with that and the fact that I found this soooo challenging - I may well be back with a second (or third) attempt this week...

Follow the link to play along - it's a lovely challenge with so many friendly 'commenters' - they broke my record for comments again last week with 38 so thanks again ladies :-)

  1. Hi again
Lovely card, that's such a striking image! No can see this wouldn't work embossed!
I do think this is such a clean and crisp card that it didn't need the swirl next to the sentiment. Maybe if you want the addition of some 'colour' a little glamour dust to highlight some areas? However it's FAB
    Thank you as always

  10. This is a fabulous edging... love the 'off the edge' look. I think if I wanted to add a little colour.... a few ruby looking gems nestling in the flourishes might look good.
Well done on all those comments, I don't think I've ever had that many!
    See you next time.

  18. Thanks for your comments. I don't use a brayer either. Try adding the ink with a shaving brush, mine are from Inkylicious. I find it easier than a brayer. Shame not to use those fab Lavinia stamps.Cheers Caz
