Today is the birthday of one of my DT members over at St Luke's - the lovely Lynne so I made a card for her and now I know she's opened it, I can share it on here. Bizzarely 3 of the 6 of us have birthdays this month so watch this space for another card on Monday!
I decided to play with this week's colours at Colorthrowdown as I love teals and blue and brown, but I think my "red" is more dark pink than real red I must confess. I coloured the cute little greeting farm stamp with copics, cut her out and layered her up on some decorative papers that had the colour throwdown colours. The sentiment is stamped and embossed in chocolate brown pearlised ink.

Hope you've had a fabulous birthday Lynne!

Borderless images.....
There's been a bit of a trend going on in blogland and on the make it crafty facebook page for colouring your images WITHOUT a black stamped border. The idea is to either stamp in a pale colour (grey or beige) or print at a reduced quality if a digi, and to try to colour the image. I have to say it is pretty tricky, but the resulting effect is similar to the sorts of illustrations you see in children's books and I really like it!
This is my first attempt at colouring without black, so be gentle with me:
I was really happy with the hat - I think it looks very leather like with all the blending, but the clothes need more work. Once I'd coloured her I added the eyes back in black with a fineliner as they had all but disappeared in the beige momento ink I'd used to stamp with under the copics on her face. I added a white dot to them too. I then cut her out, and mounted her onto a a card with a suitably "cowgirl" background.
Stamps: Greeting Farm Wild West Anya, Waltzingmouse Way Out West (background) and Back in the Saddle (sentiment)
Other materials - copic markers, spellbinders lables die, ribbon punch, ribbon, momento ink (dessert sand), DL card blank
Challenges entered:
Aud Sentiments - Anything goes
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything goes
Challenge up your life - No patterned paper
Sir Stampalot - Anything goes
So, go and dig out a nice pale ink pad and give it a go - I dare you!

Surf's Up!
I said I'd be back, and this evening it's with another card for the current challenge we have this month at St Luke's Charity Cards Challenge which is "beside the seaside" so can be anything holiday related. For my second card for the challenge I've gone for the cute little surfer dude from The Greeting Farm, teamed with a Stampedous sentiment and some snippets of blue card cut with various width scalloped edge scissors.
I am also going to enter this into a variety of other challenges as there are lots around like ours at present:
Firstly - cards for men, want clean and simple cards this week - http://cardsformen.blogspot.com/2011/08/challenge-16-clean-simple.html
Cooking it up with Katie would like something old - which is surfer stamp, something new which is the stampendous stamp, and your favourite thing/technique which for me has to be colouring with copics. http://cookingitupwithkatie.blogspot.com/2011/08/cooking-it-up-69-show-me-your-new.html
Over at Critter Challenge - the challenge is summer fun - http://critterchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2011/08/challenge-76summer-fun.html and the same challenge at Stamp Challenges http://stampchallenges.blogspot.com/2011/07/summer-fun-something-challenge.html and at Die Cut Dreams it's holiday fun - http://diecutdreams.blogspot.com/2011/08/die-cut-dreams-95-holiday-fun.html
At TSG Clear Stamps the challenge is to celebrate summer http://tsgclearstamps.blogspot.com/2011/08/tsg118-celebrate-summer.html and Creative Inspirations is Summertime - http://creativeinspirationschallenge.blogspot.com/2011/07/challenge-65and-winnersof-challenge64.html
At Try it on Tuesday's the challenge is from the beach - http://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.com/2011/08/card-week-from-beach.html and Craft Room Challenge is Summer Holidays - http://craft-roomchallenge.blogspot.com/2011/07/summer-holidays.html
Finally this weeks challenge at Cute Card Thursdays is to create a card without any designer papers - http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/2011/08/challenge-176-no-designer-paper.html
That's all for this evening.
Take care

Skaterboy!
This card was a custom design for a friend for her grandson who is currently mad on skateboarding.
I used The Greeting Farm's Skater Ian stamp and coloured with copics, then I made an urban background. A sky blue paper, layered with grey and beige offcuts at the bottom to make the road, then I cut strips of pale grey and beige to make skyscrapers. I made windows by just dabbing the chisel end of my black copic in rows. I finished it with a ramp for him to jump over.
