Our Anniversary

It's our 5th Wedding Anniversary today, and naturally that meant making a card for my husband.  Normally I show him all the stamp sets I get when they arrive, but I managed to "hide" one of my recent PTI acquisitions when they arrived a few weeks ago, as, as soon as I saw it last year, I knew I wanted to make a card for him with it as it's just perfect!

A very simple clean and graphic card - perfect for a fella.  I stamped the "great lovers" from the Love and Marriage set (anyone know who Ozzie and Harriet are btw???) in black on some white card stock and then added the "you and me" underneath in red.  The forever and the tiny heart are also from the same set, simply stamped and the heart got a layer of wow nuetral shimmer embossing.  I finished it with a layer of black glitter paper for a narrow mat and then a little trendy washi tape with a love them that looks like it's attaching the panel to the card although there is some d/s tape underneath as it didn't hold!

Time for a quick bath before we go out for a meal before the horrendous weather decends over night - we're staying in tomorrow with buckets at the ready as there's an amber flooding alert AGAIN for South Yorkshire - we bought each other purfume and watches - perhaps we should have clubbed together for an ark!!!

Logo CASing

This morning's lucky dip challenge at Less is More at first seemed impossible to me - use the logo as inspiration - it's quite a complex thing but then when you look at the elements - flourishes, music, flowers, gems - it started to spark an idea.   I needed to make an Anniversary card for my SIL and thought that flourishes were very anniversary like so I took that as my starting point.

The flourish frame was cut on my new toy - I finally caved and ordered a Silhoutte Cameo - and I have to say it may well be the best crafting decision I EVER made.  I already have a cricut and there is just no comparison to the ease of use (if you're OK with a computer that is).  The software is very intuitive and the machine itself is brilliant - quieter than the cricut too.  The flourish was downloaded from the online library but it wasn't deep enough to fit my sentiment in, so I "subtracted" a bit in the middle to allow me to lower the bottom flourish and then drew an oblong back over and "welded" it back together to make the flourish wide enough.  I then sized the whole image to 4" so it would fit across my card nicely (and unlike the cricut it comes out just as you expect it!).  For my 2nd attempt at using the cameo - I'm personally pretty pleased with what I've accomplished (the first thing will be blogged later as that worked out fine too!)

I embossed my favourite anniversary sentiment from Waltzingmouse into the frame and mounted it over a stamped musical panel stamped in the new momento colour "peanut brittle" which I love the tone of.  To finish I cut a couple of small hearts from kraft paper (PTI die part of the flip flop die set) and added a tiny pearl heart into each of those.

I have a mountain of cards to make for birthdays coming up and orders today along with a tiara for my friends impending wedding so I'd better go and get busy whilst keeping one eye on the tennis (come on Andy!)   I'll be back just after midnight with our new challenge for St Lukes.

Has anyone else found that the spell checker in blogger isn't working?  Nothing happens when I use it anymore.  Any tips on how to sort it?

Bling and Holes

I needed an Anniversary card this week for some friends and thought that a combination of a couple of challenges would be ideal for it - CASual Friday's "bling" and Annabelle Stamps "paper piercing".

I started with an oval nestie and stamped a cake image onto it in pink, over stamped a swag design in darker pink and added bling to each swag.  Next I drew a swirl design onto grey card and pierced it before rubbing out my pencil lines.  I mounted it onto pink card stock so that it showed through the pierced holes and finished with a sentiment on a tiny lable.

Our Anniversary

Today is our anniversary, we've been married for 4 years, but together for almost 17 - Dad's illness forced us to arrange a wedding in just 3 weeks!  This year we both made cards not just me so I thought I'd share them with you all.

Here's my card - I used a new stamp set I just got from Craftie Charlie - a lovely set from My Minds Eye called Stella and Rose but I only used the one lamp stamp.  I made it quite simple with some some green stamping, then I stamped one lamp in black and stamped the shade onto a green snippet and layered it up and cut it out.  I used a yellow pencil and blended out with sansoder to create the light from this lamp.  The sentiments are computer generated.

Here's my hubby's card for me.  He is quite artistic - he draws comics and figures brilliantly but he's only ever made a card once before and we did that together.  This time he obviously had to do it without me.  So, I pulled out some suitable stamps for him to choose from, showed him the different inks and matching stampable papers - gave him a draw full of snippets (couldn't have him cutting one of the sheets I'm "saving" now could I!) and left him to it.  A couple of hours later - he emerged with an envelope and this is the fabulous creation inside - it's he clever?!?!?

He quite often does the cutting for me on my big kick so does know how to use it, but has never done it on his own - I didn't even show him where the embossing folders were!  He went for teal, as not only is it my favourite colour, but it was the theme of our wedding, taken from my wedding dress as you can see from the photo below.

We've had a lazy morning and now we're going to go out for a nice lunch before the weather changes and the rain comes in........
