One Layer Sport

That was the theme this week at Less is More - to create a one layer card featuring sport or exercise http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/week-102-olc-sports-or-exercise.html

I'm very late playing this week as it's been a rough one but I'm feeling a bit brighter this afternoon so sat up in bed for a spot of colouring as unlike lots of card makers out there who hate both one layer and masculine cards - I love them, and combine to two often!  So here's what I came up with - 2 cards in under 20 mins which has to be a record.

The first is a cricketer from Papermania stamped directly onto kraft card and coloured with my polychormos pencils.  The sentiment is from the same set stamped in red to draw your across to the ball and vice-versa.

Now I know lots of people don't think of fishing as a "proper" sport, but my Dad did and the sentiment would sum him up to a tee were he still with us so I just couldn't resist this set from WPlus9 when I saw it.  It has matching dies too and I just love it.

CAS Men's Card

It's my Uncle's birthday tomorrow and his hobby is painting so I wanted to make a "painted" card for him.  I'm not a painter though so I've used my pencils, but I think the design of this stamp gives the feeling of a painting.

I stamped it onto kraft as this is my favourite paper for using pencils and makes it easy for the white lighthouse to pop out.  I used just faber and castel pencils with only a tiny bit of blending for the sky and the horizon of the sea - over blending on kraft leads to pilling and holes....

Hopefully this is CAS enough for LIM as this will then be another on their road to a 1000 entries this week!

I'm also entering into the photo inspiration challenge at  http://foryourinspirationchallenges.blogspot.com/2011/09/fyi-challenge-14.html

Simply Less is More - Week 7 - Masculine Card

Simply Less is More this week is all about the boys.  They want a clean and simple masculine card.  I know lots of people struggle with boys cards but I actually make quite a lot of them.  The design I chose is not as CAS as some of the other cards I've made for these weekly challenges, but I still think its clean enough.

I used one of my male teddies from Elzybels - I don't normally do teddies but I like this range as they aren't overly cutesy, and coloured him with copic markers (see I said I'd get colour in this week - no black and white from me for a change!).  To break up the plain background I did something I often do on my mens cards, and used up a lot of little strips of paper I keep (yes I'm that sad!) when trimming down matts.  I think these strips work well with most images and just add a little interest without getting prissy and femine.

The sentiment is from an embossing folder which makes a full birthday background, I used a sheet of metal and carefully cut around the letters to get the single sentiment - matted onto black to set it off against the blue card.

Hope you like it.
