LIM Foliage

Hi there - sorry it's been a bit quiet on the blog this week but I've been on holiday - staying at home but I forced myself to stay away and spend some time with my hubby for a change.  He's back at work today though so I've had some time to play.

I've made a couple of cards for this week's Less is More Challenge which is One Layer featuring foliage

I really loved Chrissie's faux letter press cards this week - and as it's a technique I've never had any success with personally, I decided to give it another bash.  I inked up a sizzix folder with a chalk ink and cleaned it up before running through my machine - I'm guessing this is where I failed as there was barely any ink on the card.  Perhaps I should use different ink?  Anyhow, the impression was good so I just painted in the debossing with luminarte paint and finished with a sentiment in black (kirsty wiseman for PI)

For the second one, I went for an altogether more simple, and consequently more successful approach!  I used a ginko triboss folder on the bottom 2 thirds of a small square card and stamped a sentiment from hero arts (essential messages) across the top of the embossing in pearlescent thyme ink.

  1. Fab cards Tara my fav is the second one xx Jan

  2. Both great cards, think the second one has the edge.

  3. These are both lovely cards, I couldn't pick a favourite.

  4. Lovely embossed details on both cards, I love the gingko leaf effect, such a pretty design.

  5. Love them both Tara but you know what a sucker I am for dry embossing.
    Love that EF.

  9. They are both brilliant, Tara! I love the first for the vibrancy and the second for the embossing!

  10. Your second card with the ginko leaves embossing is just perfect, and the debossed effect on the first card is super.

  12. Hi there Tara, Glad to hear that you've had some time to play:0) Two fab cards, but I do have a favourite, the ginko leaf is one of my favourite all time leaves so the clean and simple look on this card is simply divine LOL I love it, Gay x

  13. Both lovely but the second one is my pick...

  14. These are beautiful Tara - especially the second. I love the ginko leaves but I especially like the way the sentiment fits so exactly along the top. When I ink up a folder, I use a brayer... I expect you do too but I just thought I'd mention it just in case! Vicky x

  15. Those embossed leaves look fabulous! I haven't tried the letter pressing...I love the look! Two great cards this week, Tara!!
