Butterfly Tilda

There were quite a few challenges I fancied having a go at this week - the first of which was Magnolia Down Under's "Butterfly" challenge as I've had this butterfly tilda for ages but don't think she's seen ink before.  I decided however, that a few of the challenges were complimentary so instead of just one image, I used the masking technique as required at Craft Room Challenge to "create a scene" which is the challenge at The Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge.  Also by creating a scene, I've grounded my image, rather than have her floating in mid-air which is the challenge at Make it Colourful this week.  Finally I wanted to play with banners which is part of the theme at both Cooking it up with Katie, and CES Challenges.  The resulting card is more cohesive that this might all sound....

I started with butterfly tilda, stamped with tuxedo black onto white blending card, created a mask of her and stamped over the magnolia fence to the left, masked over that again and stamped the fence to the right to make it a little longer.  It's only just barely visible on the card (flash photography - will try again tomorrow in daylight) but to finish my scene I also added a couple of clouds using white pearl with a hint of blue on a cloud stamp using the masking technique again.  The image is coloured mostly with copics, but the grass is pencils as it's very fine lines and I find pencils easier for this level of detail.  (Edit - here's the daylight photo version - the clouds still didn't show up in the photo so I added glimmer dust to give them a "silver lining")

I took my colours from the die cut banner and matching DP which are both from craft candy, as is the sentiment "ribbon".  I used a little pink ribbon to cover the DP join as this was one of the elements from Cooking it up with Katie (along with die cuts and a banner)  I finished with a couple of gems to highlight the banner.
