It's a handy theme at Less is More this week as I woke up this morning to find a valentines card on my pillow as my husband is away today and had said he wasn't doing a card. Whoops! Luckily he won't be back whilst late so I had time to make one for him....
It is one layer week at Less is More, so you'd think die cuts were a no-go, but with a liner on the inside, you can do embedded die cuts on a one layer card and nest them back in to the finished card. In this case I used some copics to add shading first. The hearts banner die is by Lil' Inker Designs.
The little excited penguins and matching sentiment are from Mama Elephant's love quotes and I watercoloured them lightly with distress markers and a paintbursh.

Fabulous card Tara and love those cute little penguins and how you've coloured them.
ReplyDeleteLove your inlaid dies too and a great discussion point this week as one of my cards also has an inlaid die but wasn't sure whether I was hedging my bets with it.
Thanks for taking part as always
Sarah

Love this Tara, those penguins are too cute. Carol x
ReplyDeleteIt's a talking point alright about inlaid dies and OLCs... is it? isn't it?... without a backing it wouldn't work! Maybe we should take an opinion poll on it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great card however and I bet your hubby loved it!
Thanks so much

I vote that it's perfectly okay to use a backing and inlaid die cuts on a one layer card! LOL! I think this card is just precious! I love those heart banners...and those cute little penguins!
ReplyDeleteVery smart...using embedded die cuts...love that idea! Adorable, balanced card! Love it.
